EHang Sells First EH216-S Autonomous eVTOL via Taobao E-Commerce Platform

EHang sold its first EH216-S on Alibaba Group Holding’s Taobao marketplace today, just over a week before it makes the autonomous vehicle available in overseas (outside of China) markets.

(Guangzhou, China) Urban air mobility (UAM) technology company EHang Holdings Limited (NASDAQ: EH) today announced the sale of its first EH216-S autonomous electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle on Alibaba Group Holding’s (NYSE: BABA) Taobao e-commerce marketplace, just over a week before the company makes the aircraft available in markets outside of China.

The aircraft sold on Taobao at 2.39 million yuan ($332,032), according to The Global Times. On February 1st, The FLY Report reported EHang’s announcement of a suggested retail price of RMB2.39 million within China, which was, at the time, announced as effective beginning April 1, 2024.

The EH216-S will be available in overseas (global) markets, outside of China, at a suggested price of US$410,000 starting April 1, 2024.

The EH216-S, which was first announced in February of 2018, has reportedly completed over 42,000 successful test flights in more than 14 countries, per the South China Morning Post (SCMP).

On Monday, March 18th, EHang’s EH216-S successfully completed its debut flight in Latin America, in a demonstration at the Reserva Conchal Resort, in Costa Rica's Guanacaste province.

Per The Global Times, the output value of the low-altitude economy in China is estimated to reach 3 to 5 trillion yuan by 2025, according to a recent survey by the International Digital Economy Academy.
