Virgin Atlantic’s 100 Percent SAF Flight Successfully Lands in New York
Virgin’s successful 100 percent sustainable aviation fuel flight makes the company the first major airline to fly transatlantic on SAF.
(Queens, New York) Virgin Atlantic’s 100 percent sustainable aviation fuel flight successfully landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport (IATA: JFK, ICAO: KJFK, FAA LID: JFK) from London this afternoon, making Virgin the first major airline to fly transatlantic on SAF.

“Flight100 proves that Sustainable Aviation Fuel can be used as a safe, drop-in replacement for fossil-derived jet fuel and it’s the only viable solution for decarbonising long haul aviation,” said Virgin Atlantic’s Chief Executive Officer Shai Weiss.
Virgin Group Founder Sir Richard Branson and his daughter and Virgin’s Chief Purpose and Vision Officer, Holly Branson, were onboard the flight, which traveled from Heathrow Airport (IATA: LHR, ICAO: EGLL) in London to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (IATA: JFK, ICAO: KJFK, FAA LID: JFK) on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
