UAE Regulator Moves Archer’s Midnight eVTOL to Restricted Type Certificate (RTC) Program
Per Archer, the RTC program is an established, streamlined approach for launching initial air taxi operations in the UAE.
(Abu Dhabi, UAE) The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Archer Aviation (NYSE: ACHR) announced today (May 7) the transition of Archer’s Midnight electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft into a Restricted Type Certificate (RTC) program.

Per Archer, the RTC program is an established, streamlined approach to launch initial air taxi operation sin the UAE, and is set to advance the regulatory path for Midnight’s entry into service in the UAE.
Archer is the first eVTOL manufacturer to transition to an RTC certification track with the GCAA, according to the company.
A cornerstone of this advanced regulatory phase is initiating a GCAA Design Organization Approval (DOA) and Production Organization Approval (POA), per Archer.
“The UAE has been one of the most forward-leaning markets in the world for advanced aviation, and the GCAA has been a strong, collaborative partner throughout this process,” said Archer Founder and CEO Adam Goldstein. “Advancing Midnight into this RTC program is a major step toward bringing electric air taxis to the UAE.”

Archer is set to release earnings on Monday, May 11 next week.
