Joby and Toyota Completed Joby’s First International Exhibition Flight in Japan This Weekend
The flight, which took place at Toyota’s facility in Shizuoka, marks Joby’s first air taxi flight in Japan, and follows the Oct. 2 announcement that Toyota will invest a further $500 million in Joby.
(Susono, Japan and Santa Cruz, California) Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota; NYSE: TM) and electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle developer Joby Aviation, Inc. (Joby; NYSE:JOBY) announced today the completion of Joby’s first international exhibition flight, which took place at Toyota’s Higashi-Fuji Technical Center in Shizuoka, Japan over the weekend.

The flight, which was completed within sight of Mount Fuji, “marked an opportunity to demonstrate the low acoustic footprint of Joby’s emissions-free aircraft and celebrate nearly seven years of collaboration between the two companies,” per today’s press release from Joby.

The exhibition flight follows Joby’s and Toyota’s October 2nd announcement that Toyota will invest an additional $500 million in Joby to support certification and commercial production of the company’s eVTOL aircraft.
