$400 billion would mark the largest-ever valuation for a privately-held U.S. company, surpassing SpaceX’s previous record of $350 billion in December.
(Starbase, Texas) Elon Musk’s SpaceX is reportedly discussing plans to raise money and sell insider shares in a deal that would value the company at $400 billion, according to people familiar with the matter, per a Bloomberg article published this afternoon.

According to Bloomberg, a representative for SpaceX did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The $400 billion valuation would mark the largest-ever valuation for a privately held U.S. company, surpassing SpaceX’s previous record of $350 billion from its share buyback in December and rivaling the values of TikTok owner ByteDance and OpenAI, according to Bloomberg.
Per Bloomberg, the valuation reflects a number of factors, including:
- the rise of SpaceX’s fast-growing Starlink internet unit, which accounts for more than half of SpaceX’s annual revenue, and
- the company’s ability to achieve new milestones with its Starship rocket program.
