Madrid-based EOS-X Space plans to operate luxury space tourism flights using high-altitude balloons.

(Madrid, Spain & Space Coast, Florida) Spaceflight experience company Space Perspective has been acquired by European aerospace company EOS-X Space, according to law firm Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo, who represented EOS-X Space, per PhocusWire.

The new company will continue to be based in the United States – despite EOS-X’s headquarters being in Madrid, Spain – and details of the acquisition price were not disclosed, according to Travel and Tour World.

Space Perspective appeared to cease operations earlier this year after it was evicted from a Florida airport, according to PhocusWire.

EOS-X Space is developing the first low-orbital flying system lifted by an eco-friendly stratospheric balloon, which will bring people to space via a five-hour trip, according to EOS-X’s website.

As part of the acquisition, Space Perspective will undergo a rebranding, according to Travel and Tour World (TTW).

While the company will retain its core technology, assets, and intellectual property, it will not inherit the financial obligations or debts of the former company; the new company also will not assume any prior customer contracts or reservations. Clients who had previously paid deposits for space tourism experiences will find their funds in escrow, managed by a liquidator or fiduciary as part of the bankruptcy proceedings – which means that any customer-facing commitments made by the old Space Perspective company are effectively nullified, per TTW.

The new company plans to operate flights from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. In addition to maintaining a spaceport at the center for near-space flights, an assembly headquarters will be set up in California to handle other aspects of the business, according to TTW.

As for future offerings, the new company will re-assess customer experience and its value proposition – The company had initially planned to charge $125,000 per seat for its high-altitude balloon flights, but the new leadership is re-evaluating this pricing model, per TTW.

Previously, in October of 2024, Space Perspective had announced that investor and Virgin Group Founder Sir Richard Branson would co-pilot the company’s first crewed test flight this year (in 2025) alongside Space Perspective’s co-Founder, Jane Poynter, and co-Founder and CTO, Taber MacCallum.

At that time, the company had raised $100 million to date, including funding from Branson, Prime Movers Lab, and other notable venture capital funds like LightShed Partners, E2MC, Base Ventures, Green Sands Equity, Kirenaga, and SpaceFund.
