Notes from Clay Lacy’s Newly-Upgraded OXC Digs – Which are Absolutely Fabulous – and our Dassault Falcon 6X Tour
The FLY Report's first visit to Oxford, Connecticut taught us that Waterbury-Oxford Airport (OXC) is an absolutely beautiful place.
(Oxford, Connecticut) If you’ve never been to Oxford, Connecticut – a quick heads up: the airport is absolutely breathtaking.

Also, a serious upgrade is coming soon, as aircraft asset management company Clay Lacy’s fixed-base operator (FBO) and hangar complex will be getting a brand-new crown jewel next month, with the forthcoming grand opening of its passenger & crew terminal.
The bottom line: if you happen to be looking for a reliever airport close to both NYC and Boston, this place is amazing.

We spent the day touring the grounds, Clay Lacy’s hangars and the Dassault Falcon 6X demo aircraft that was hanging out onsite. Here are some notes from the visit:
Clay Lacy at OXC
Clay Lacy’s OXC facility is centrally located between New York City and Boston. The recently-developed, $40 million facility is home to the following:
- 16-acres
- 120,000 square feet of hangar space
- 26,000 sf of office and FBO space
- 3.6 acres ramp
- 40,000 gallon fuel farm
- Customizable office space from 500 – 2,000 square feet, build-to-suit available
The OXC facility is a 10-20 minute flight (by jet) to New York airports, and, per Clay Lacy, offers 30% lower costs on hangar and office rental rates vs. comparable but busier airports.

The facility also serves as Clay Lacy’s regional operational center in the Northeastern U.S., supporting the company’s aircraft management, charter, and maintenance clients on the east coast. Additionally, the airport is home to Clay Lacy’s Part 145 Repair Station with aircraft maintenance, avionics, and AOG services.
Clay Lacy currently manages 20 Dassault Falcon jets, including Dassault Falcon 900s, 7Xs, 50, and 2000s, within its fleet.
The Dassault Falcon 6X
We did a quick tour with Dassault Falcon – a 6X demo aircraft was onsite outside of Clay Lacy’s Hangar #1. The 6X has the highest ceiling of any ultra-long-range aircraft business jet, at 6 feet, 6 inches high – with the exception of Falcon’s forthcoming 10X model – which maintains a 6” 8’ cabin height and a targeted entry into service of 2027.

The 6X, which boasts a range of 5,500 nautical miles (10,186 km) and Maximum Mach Operating (MMO) speed of Mach .90 c, seats up to 12-16 passengers. The jet maintains an also-unusually “wide” width of 8.5 feet – in fact, the aircraft is billed as the first extra widebody business jet.
The 6X cabin boasts 30 windows and a skylight in the galley, just adjacent to the flight deck.
The demo aircraft we boarded seated 14, with 8 “captain chairs” in the front area of the plane and two divans in the back.
As for the flight deck: Dassault’s combined Vision System, FalconEye, provides guidance on approaches down to 100 feet even before the runway is sighted, per Dassault.
