Israel’s Transportation Minister Miri Regev announced a framework to gradually reopen its airspace after Ben-Gurion closed on Saturday (3/28).
(Tel Aviv, Israel) Israel’s Transportation Minister Miri Regev announced this afternoon (Mar. 3) that a framework to gradually reopen Israel’s airspace between Wednesday, March 4th, and Thursday, March 5th, has been put into motion, as reported by The Jerusalem Post.

Ben-Gurion Airport (TLV) has been closed to arrivals and departures since the start of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran on Saturday.
Per The Jerusalem Post, thousands of Israelis have been stranded abroad since, as flights to Israel were cancelled worldwide; some Israelis have been returning through land border crossings.
A post from flagship Israeli carrier El Al on Instagram, from its @elalusa account, reads as follows:
“EL AL welcomes the decision to gradually reopen Ben-Gurion Airport and announces that in recent days the airline has completed extensive preparations for the reopening of Israeli airspace. EL AL is fully prepared to begin the operation to bring its customers back to Israel.
Beginning this evening, the airline will proactively assign its customers currently abroad to Recovery Flights back to Israel, according to the date of the original flight ticket and at no additional cost.
EL AL is operating in accordance with the guidelines of the relevant authorities and with the landing limitations published for Ben-Gurion Airport. The airline will bring customers back home in an organized and gradual manner from more than 20 gateways, while giving priority to exceptional humanitarian and medical cases.”
