General Dynamics Shares Rise on Strong 1Q26 Earnings

General Dynamics (GD) posted 1Q26 operating earnings of $1.4 billion, or $4.10/share vs. $3.66/share one year prior and analyst expectations of $3.70/share.

(Reston, Virgina) General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) this morning (Apr. 29) reported first-quarter 2026 operating earnings of $1.4 billion, and profit of $1.13 billion, or $4.10 per diluted share (EPS), on $13.5 billion in revenue; per The Wall Street Journal, analysts polled by FactSet were expecting earnings of $3.70 per share.

The company’s posted net earnings of $1.13 billion compares to $994 million, or $3.66 per share, in the quarter ending one year prior.

Sales in marine systems increased the most, rising 21% to $4.34 billion, and revenue from aerospace – a segment that includes Gulfstream Aerospace – increased 8.4%, while combat systems and technologies increased 4.9% and 4.2%, respectively.

Total estimated contract value, a measure of future business, ended the quarter at $188 billion, up 33% year over year, according to Barron’s.

The company didn’t update guidance; in January, General Dynamics guided for annual earnings per share between $16.10 and $16.20 from sales of between $54.3 billion and $54.8 billion, per Barron’s.

Shares of General Dynamics are up 10.64% at $347.05 as of 10.15am ET.
