FCC To End EchoStar Probe into 5G & Spectrum Obligations Post-SpaceX, AT&T Deals, As Expected – Reuters
The U.S. Federal Communications Commission will terminate its investigation into Echotar’s domestic 5G buildout obligations, according to a regulatory filing from EchoStar today (Sept. 9).
(Englewood, Colorado) Today’s (Sept. 9) regulatory filing from Dish Network parent company EchoStar (NASDAQ: SATS) reported that the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will terminate its investigation into the company’s 5G buildout obligations, according to Reuters.

The expected move follows both EchoStar’s $17 billion deal to sell wireless spectrum to SpaceX announced yesterday (Sept 8) and its $23 billion spectrum sale to AT&T (NYSE: T) about two weeks ago.
In a letter to EchoStar Chairman Charles Ergen on Monday, FCC Chair Brendan Carr wrote he had asked the agency staff to close the investigation and conclude that EchoStar has satisfied its buildout obligations, according to Reuters.
The transactions with AT&T and SpaceX continue to remain subject to FCC approval, the company said in the filing.
