Eve Air Mobility and Flexjet Partner on UAM Simulation

Eve and Flexjet conducted an initial software simulation of Eve’s Urban Air Traffic Management (Urban ATM) solution at Farnborough Airport, UK.

(Farnborough Airport, United Kingdom) Eve Air Mobility (NYSE: EVEX; EVEXW), the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) subsidiary of Embraer, and Flexjet completed a four-day simulation of Eve’s Urban Air Traffic management (Urban ATM) solution this month, according to a press release from Eve today.

During the simulation, which took place at Flexjet’s Tactical Control Centre at Farnborough Airport, UK, Eve’s Urban ATM software shadowed live helicopter flights operated by Flexjet’s UK helicopter division.

The objective of the collaboration was to provide insights into the services required to support future eVTOL operations, and to investigate whether these new services could have immediate value for existing helicopter operations.

In June of 2021, Halo, the urban air mobility operation launched by business aviation group OneSky Flight - which is part of the Directional Aviation group, which also owns Flexjet, Sentient Jet, Private Fly and FX Air - placed an order for future delivery of 200 of Eve’s four-passenger eVTOLs, with the intent of splitting the fleet between operations in the United States and the United Kingdom.

NATS, the UK’s leading provider of air traffic control services, and London Heliport supported this month’s Urban ATM simulation by “providing additional feedback to help ensure Eve’s solution will provide the greatest value to all UAM ecosystem participants,” according to the press release from Eve.

“This collaboration with Flexjet represents a significant step forward in our efforts to advance urban air mobility,” said Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve. “We are committed to exploring innovative solutions that will enhance current operations and contribute to the future of urban flights.”

Eli Flint, Flexjet President of Global Helicopter Operations, added: “We were delighted to provide Flexjet’s UK helicopter expertise and to play a key role in forging the UAM ecosystem of tomorrow, helping to inform the movements of the next generation of vertical aircraft.
