A deal could value ULA at around $2 billion to $3 billion, the sources said, per Reuters.

ULA is a major provider of launch services to the U.S. government and a top rival to Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Per Reuters, ULA referred Reuters to Boeing and Lockheed for comment; both companies told Reuters that the do not comment on market speculation, and Sierra Space did not return a request for comment.

ULA launched its most recent mission on July 30th via an Atlas V rocket, marking the last national security space launch for a member of the Atlas rocket family – as ULA transitions to its next generation Vulcan rocket for continued access to space – and the 100th national security mission for ULA.

In December of 2023, ULA reportedly received buyout bids from Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin and Cerberus, Stephen Feinberg’s private equity giant. Neither bid resulted in a sale.
