Atlantic Aviation Extends Agreement with NYCEDC, Prepares for Electric Aircraft Charging Infrastructure at NYC’s East 34th Street Heliport

(Plano, Texas) Fixed base operator and aviation services provider Atlantic Aviation announced today that it has extended its concession agreement with the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and the City of New York, securing operations at the East 34th Street Heliport for the next five years; Atlantic will soon begin a project to upgrade utility infrastructure and install charging stations at the heliport to support electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft operations.

Located on Manhattan’s East River waterfront, the East 34th Street heliport is a hub for helicopter activity in New York City, providing vital support to nearby facilities including the NYU Langone Health Center.

The new infrastructure at Atlantic – which will be installed in keeping with the NYCEDC’s broader push for sustainable infrastructure – will feature Combined Charging System (CCS) and Global Electric Aviation Charging System (GEACS) solutions, making the heliport a future-proofed base for eVTOL operations.

Atlantic Aviation is collaborating with various eVTOL partners, including BETA Technologies, Joby Aviation, and Archer Aviation, to ensure the helipad site is equipped to handle a variety of eVTOL aircraft.

The infrastructure upgrades are expected to be completed in time for the anticipated rollout of eVTOL aircraft, offering a cleaner, quieter alternative to traditional helicopter services.
