Archer and Joby Announce Receipt of Part 145 Maintenance Certificates from the FAA
Part 145 Repair Station Certificates from the FAA qualify recipient companies to perform select repair and maintenance activities on aircraft.
(Santa Clara, California & Santa Cruz, California) Electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle developers Archer Aviation, Inc. (NYSE: ACHR) and Joby Aviation, Inc. (NYSE: JOBY) announced today that they have received Part 145 Certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and have therefore qualified to operate repair and maintenance stations.

“This is a major vote of confidence from the FAA on Archer’s promise and potential for operating a full-scale urban air mobility service in cities across the country,” said Adam Goldstein, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Archer, in Archer’s press release today.
Joby executives noted that the Part 145 certification is an important of Joby’s vertically-integrated approach to bringing its eVTOL vehicle to market.
“This approval marks another foundational piece of Joby’s vertically-integrated strategy, including aircraft development, manufacturing, charging systems, commercial flight operations, and now maintenance operations, as we prepare to bring our revolutionary eVTOL aircraft to market,” said Joby’s President of Operations Bonny Simi in the company’s press release. “Receiving our Part 145 certificate from the FAA is an important step towards developing the needed maintenance, repair and overhaul services to support Joby’s commercial flight operations, as well as establishing career pipelines for people who want to become eVTOL aircraft technicians.”
In 2022, Joby partnered with Aviation High School in Queens, New York to develop local talent and integrate course materials on electric propulsion systems for students, with the goal of preparing graduates for career opportunities in the eVTOL industry.
