ADNOC L&S Partners with REGENT to Trial High-Speed Electric Seagliders for Offshore Transportation

(Abu Dhabi, UAE) Global energy maritime logistics company ADNOC Logistics and Services plc (ADX: ADNOCLS) has selected US-based REGENT’s electric seaglider for a proof-of-concept trial to assess the craft’s suitability for transporting personnel to and from offshore energy infrastructure; the announcement was made at the ‘Make it in the Emirates’ event, which is currently taking place in Abu Dhabi.

Per today’s press release from REGENT, the proof-of-concept trial is intended to validate the safety and efficiency of REGENT’s new seacraft, and underscores ADNOC’s commitment to advanced technological innovation; it will serve as the first phase in a potential multi-stage deployment that could see the technology incorporated more widely across ADNOC L&S’s offshore logistics operations.

REGENT will manufacture its 12-passenger (or 1,600 kg of cargo), zero-emission electric seagliders in the UAE and provide aftermarket services such as maintenance, boosting local manufacturing capabilities and strengthening the UAE’s industrial base. The proof-of-concept trial will also be managed by a UAE-based seaglider operator, according to REGENT.

REGENT’s electric seaglider is intended to reduce operational costs by up to 80% with respect to traditional offshore energy infrastructure transportation providers, according to REGENT.

The proof-of-concept trial of REGENT’s seaglider aligns with ADNOC Group’s broader Net Zero by 2045 ambition and supports the UAE’s strategic objectives to foster innovation, sustainability and national industrial growth, according to today’s press release from REGENT.

Earlier this year, Strategic Development Fund (SDF), an Abu Dhabi based investment company, wholly owned by EDGE Group, signed an agreement with REGENT to set up a joint venture in the UAE to produce and service REGENT seagliders for several regions globally.
